Who we are

Founded in 2019 through SHELL LiveWIRE's Business Community Alumni, MAED Training is Brunei's premier first aid and safety training provider. As part of the DARe/BEDB Startup Ecosystem and an active member of Persatuan Peniaga-Peniaga Melayu Brunei (PPPMB), we are dedicated to saving lives through knowledge and preparedness. We combine practical expertise with cutting-edge Safety XR technology (joint project with Rumine Corp) to set new standards in first aid and safety training.

We have had the privilege of training participants from Government agencies, Private Companies, Educational Institutions, Community groups and individuals. This diverse experience enables us to customize our training delivery to meet the specific needs of each sector.

About the Founder

Irwati Abdul Gafur is the visionary founder and director of MAED Training, bringing over 16 years of extensive experience across aviation, management, customer service, safety, and education. A former Chief Flight Attendant, Irwati’s deep expertise in aviation safety, leadership, and operational discipline continues to shape her mission to deliver impactful training with excellence and heart.

Her qualifications include certifications from internationally recognized institutions such as Lufthansa, MedAire, the American Heart Association (AHA – Texas), L3Harris Technologies, and L3Harris Aerospace. She also holds a Diploma in Early Childhood Training endorsed by TAFE Queensland, Australia—reflecting her commitment to inclusive, lifelong learning from early education to adult capacity-building. In addition, she is a certified First Aid Instructor under the Emergency Care and Safety Institute (ECSI), providing globally recognized life-saving training across Brunei and the region.

For Irwati, MAED Training is more than a business—it is a purpose-driven platform to empower individuals, families, and organizations with the knowledge, confidence, and resilience to protect and care for others. She believes that meaningful training doesn’t just meet requirements—it transforms lives.

Pioneering innovation in safety education, Irwati also leads the integration of extended reality (XR) technology into MAED’s training offerings. Developed in collaboration with a former local tech partner and YST Corporation of South Korea, this initiative reflects her drive to deliver accessible, immersive solutions that support Brunei’s smart nation vision.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Irwati is a mentor, a wife, a mother, and a lifelong learner—committed to helping others grow not just through skills, but through purpose.

  • First aid is the immediate care given to someone who has been injured or suddenly ill before professional medical help arrives. It aims to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening, and promote recovery.
  • Essentially, first aid involves understanding basic life support techniques such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), how to manage common injuries and illnesses, and how to act calmly and effectively in an emergency situation.
  • Learning first aid empowers individuals to provide crucial assistance in those critical moments before paramedics arrive!

First aid is crucial because it can save lives in drastic emergency situations and also everyday injuries such as cuts and burns. First aid knowledge equips you with the knowledge and skills to assist others and reduces panic during emergency situations. It's a practical skill that benefits you, your family, and your community!

Everyone can benefit from first aid training! From parents protecting their children, teachers ensuring student safety, workers looking out for colleagues, and to everyday individuals in their communities. It's about stepping up and providing vital care until professional help arrives. By learning these skills, you contribute to a safer and more prepared community, knowing you can make a difference when it matters most.

There are different age requirements for the course. For the occupational first aid course (OFAC), participants need to be at least 18 years of age. For basic first aid, participants should be at least 12 years of age whereas in the family first aid course, children should be at least 9 years old. Typically we set the minimum number of participants at 6 pax per session, but this can be further discussed depending on your needs!

First Aid Certificates (both occupational and basic) are valid for 2 years from the date of course completion.

Each student will be provided an e-book from ECSI.
